All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
First of all, we thank you for being keen on knowing the Islamic rulings and we ask Allaah to reward you for this.
You should know that it is permissible for a woman to mourn for a dead person other than her husband for three days, but she must mourn for her husband for a period of four months and ten days, as we clarified in Fatwa 82106. So, mourning for a father is not obligatory but permissible.
On the other hand, watching T.V. does not contradict being in a state of mourning, but if what is watched is Islamicly forbidden, then it is not permissible to watch it whether this is during the mourning period or at any other times.
For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 81723.
Allaah Knows best.
