All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Shaykh Muhammad Zakariyya Al-Kaandahlawi is a Muslim scholar who studied many books of the Sunnah and explained, verified and commented on some of them. Thus, his contributions are undeniable. The fact that he was influenced by the Deobandi School should not prevent us from commending him for his knowledge, since Muslims are required to be fair in judging others. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness.}[Quran 5:8]
However, this was and still is the attitude of the scholars of the Ummah regarding the Muslim scholars who might have been influenced by Sufism, Ash‘ariyyah and the like. This did not prevent them from speaking well of such scholars for the good things they know about them. Indeed, whoever refers to the books of Ibn Taymiyyah as well as “Siyar A‘laam An-Nubalaa’” of Ath-Thahabi will find many examples of this.
Allaah Knows best.
