All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
There is no doubt that it is right and normal that both spouses should live together as this is the objective of marriage; however, the circumstances may make this normal situation difficult to achieve.
In regard to your situation, your wife is not obligated to live with your parents, and if your parents ask you to make her stay with them, then you are not obliged to obey them in this regard; for more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 84608.
However, it is your wife’s right that you should not be absent from her for more than six months except with her permission as we clarified in Fatwa 84073.
Moreover, if you wish to bring her to live with you and your parents prevent you from this without having any sound reason for doing so, then you are not obliged to obey them as we clarified in Fatwa 84942.
Hence, we advise you to solve the problem in a way that you avoid as much as possible making your parents angry with you as by pleasing them, you please Allaah. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 87019.
Allaah Knows best.
