Question:

Al-Baseer (The All Seer) is one of the Names of Allaah the Almighty. How many times has it been mentioned in the Quran?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

The Names and Attributes of Allaah The Exalted signify His Perfection and Exaltedness. Indeed, Allaah The Exalted informs His slaves about Himself through these Names and Attributes.  Allaah Says (what means): {He is Allaah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.}[Quran 59:24]

The Names and Attributes of Allaah are considered a blessing bestowed by Him upon His slaves so that they supplicate Him by mentioning these Names and Attributes to ask for what they need, or in order to repel harm. People should ponder upon the meaning of His Names so that they would worship Him according to them; Allaah Says (what means): {And to Allaah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them.}[Quran 7:180]

Al-Baseer (The All Seer) is one of these Names: this Attribute means that Allaah Sees and Is aware of everything that happens, no matter how small or minute it is, even if it is hidden. Knowing this meaning, makes a person fear Allaah and be conscious of Him in private and public and in all  affairs, and become shameful to be seen by Allaah committing sins.

This is the most important benefit of knowing the Names and Attributes of Allaah The Almighty. However, there is no harm in knowing how many times a Name of Allaah The Almighty is mentioned in the Quran if there is a benefit behind this. The Name Al-Baseer is mentioned 62 times in the Quran.

Allaah Knows best.
