Playing badminton is permissible if free of religious violations

Question:

Is playing badminton haram?
Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His Slave and Messenger.

In general, sports are permissible if they abide by Islamic  guidelines and do not involve any religious violations as we have previously clarified in Fatwa 83673.
