All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Muslim scholars hold different opinions regarding the ruling on menstruating women entering the Masjid; the preponderant opinion is that it is impermissible.
And this ruling applies to Al-Masjid Al-Haraam even more so due to its nobility. This applies to all areas that are attached to Al-Masjid Al-Haraam, such as the yard of the Masjid beyond the doors, and the area between the nave and the Mas‘a; However, it is permissible for a menstruating woman to enter the Mas‘a since she is allowed to perform Sa‘y between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. ‘Aa’ishah narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, told her when she experienced menstrual bleeding during Hajj: "Do what all the pilgrims do except that you do not perform Tawaaf round the Ka‘bah." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
This proves that the Mas‘a is not a part of Al-Masjid Al-Haraam.
Allaah Knows best.
