Drinking lot of water to treat magic

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu Shaykh. I was told that drinking water is good for me because sorcery was done on me. I want to know whether I would be doing something against the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, by drinking even when I am full or almost full, as the hadith says, “The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is enough for the son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls to keep him going, but if he must (fill his stomach), then one third for his food, one third for his drink, and one third for air.” Please advice, Shaykh, what should I do? Should I drink one third or more to treat myself and get rid of the evil effects of sorcery on me? May Allaah reward you Shaykh.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

The treatment of magic is done by Ruqyah (Quranic recitations and supplication) and the like, and reciting the Quran on water and drinking it or bathing with it, and this is beneficial with the Will of Allaah.

If it is known that drinking water has an effect in invalidating that magic or that this water will be drunk because the Quran was recited on it, and the like, then there is nothing wrong with drinking too much of it, and this is not against the Sunnah because it is used as a medical treatment in this case. Seeking treatment is part of the Sunnah of the Prophet which he ordered us with and legislated for his nation.
