All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, is His slave and Messenger.
This Hadeeth was classified as Hasan (Sound) by a group of scholars, and therefore there is nothing wrong with acting upon it. It was classified as Hasan by Al-Munthiri and Al-Haythami, and As-Suyooti reported that Al-Haakim classified it as Saheeh (Authentic).
According to the sources that we consulted, Shaykh Shu‘ayb Al-Arnaa’oot classified it as Weak in his revision of Al-Musnad, saying: “Its chain of narration is weak due to the weakness of the narrator Abu Saalih, who is Baathaam, or Baathaan, the freed slave of Umm Haani’.” [End of quote]
It was also classified as Weak by Shaykh Al-Albaani in Dha‘eef Al-Jaami’, but he later changed its classification to Hasan in As-Silsilah and underlined that Abu Saalih was most likely Thakwaan As-Sammaan, who was one of the reporters approved by Al-Bukhari and Muslim .
Allah Knows best.
