Ruling on attending singles' matrimonial events

Question:

Assalamualaikum, Is it permissible to attend singles matrimonial events organized by a masjid? In these events the walis of the women do not participate, but there are Imams and volunteers who facilitate and chaperone the event. The single men and women sit with each other at tables and take part in organized games and activities to help get to know one another. At the end of the event, if a brother is interested in a sister, he asks for her wali's phone number. What is the ruling on attending this type of event?Jazak Allahu khairan

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

We are of the view that these meetings should not be organized nor participated in because of the mixing between men and women in a way that leads to corruption. The desired interest from these events, which is to get to know each other for marriage, can be achieved in other ways, such as, for example, by creating groups on social media in which each of the parties writes his data and so on in ways that do not include a visible evil.
