Ruling on saying Nasheeds whose lyrics contain vows and oaths

Question:

Is saying Nasheeds of which the lyrics contain vows and oaths considered a binding oath or a vow that should be fulfilled?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

When a person chants Nasheeds of which the words contain vows and oaths as merely reciting them, he is not obliged to fulfill those oaths and vows (in the lyrics). However, if he intends to take those oaths and vows, they are considered binding and should be fulfilled. The same ruling applies to repeating or narrating words that imply kufr (disbelief), disobedience, or the like for a valid reason that is acceptable according to the Islamic Shree‘ah. The person will not be considered a disbeliever unless he intends it.

Allaah Knows best.
