Person with incomplete knowledge giving Da’wah

Question:

The nature of my work allows me to deal with non-Muslims. I want to call them to the way of Allaah The Almighty, however, my religious knowledge does not qualify me to do so. Should I give them Da’wah?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

 

Seeking to guide people to the religion of Allaah The Almighty is one of the greatest acts of worship and one of the best deeds that brings a Muslim closer to Allaah The Almighty. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, strongly encouraged us to do Da’wah; he told us that if someone manages to be the reason for just one person accepting Islam, that is better for him than possessing the most precious wealth of this world. [Al-Bukhari]

Doing Da’wah does not require one to have complete knowledge of all branches of religion. Rather, everyone should do Da’wah according to his ability and the extent of his knowledge. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, ordered us to convey from him to others even a single verse of the Quran. [Al-Bukhari]

Consequently, you may call non-Muslims to the way of Allaah The Almighty using the authentic religious knowledge you have. You should avoid tackling issues that you are not fully knowledgeable about.

You may also give them useful books. We supplicate Allaah The Almighty to support you, guide you, and make you a reason for guiding others.
