Question:

In my village where I live women dance with ARABIC NEW SONGS which contains words like "I love you, I miss you, etc. Does Islam allow dancing to such songs?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and  Messenger.

Dancing in the way you mentioned is not lawful for many reasons.

First, it is an imitation of insolent and shameless ladies. Abu Dawood may Allaah have mercy upon him reported from Ibn Omar may Allaah be pleased with him that he said the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “Whoever imitates a people, he is one of them”.

Second, the mentioned songs include words that are impudent and insolent, that stimulate the sexual desire. This is in contradiction to the Sharia that calls for controlling ones desires and for being chaste.

Indeed, the best character for the woman is prudency. These songs and dances effect badly the character and make insolence habitual to the woman.

Third, these songs are accompanied by musical instruments which are forbidden. (Refer to Fataawa: 81239, 81545, 81604) We conclude that the dancing and songs you mentioned are all unlawful.

Allah knows best.
