How to rid of illicit earning

Question:

I want to ask about the investment in bank shares in the Arabic countries and most of these bank's work is based on lending people money with interest, is it Halal or Haram? If it is Haram what can I do with the money that I got from my profit from these banks.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

 

Any bank that lends people money with Riba (interest and/or usury) is a Riba bank regardless of where it is established. So, it is forbidden to deal with it.

If a person unknowingly dealt with this bank and got some profit based on interests, he should not use that money himself.

Firstly, he should repent from this sin.

Secondly, he should spend that money on some public interest like public roads or public bathrooms… etc.
