Sends Man Islamic Material Via Internet

Question:
Thank you very much for this great site, Mashallah. I am 19-year-old girl. I met a guy on the Internet three years ago, and I loved him very much. Later on this year I read many articles and problems related to this relationship and found out its Haram. Since my religion comes before the guy I love, I decided to stop talking to him, first for my religion, second because I love him and I don't want him to do something against Islam, and third I want him to trust me so that Insha Allah we get married. I am afraid it I left him he might become bad, because I used to always make him read Islamic article and listen to lectures. So I decided to keep sending him articles to read. Is this Haram, even though we don't talk at all anymore?
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Firstly, for more benefit on men chatting with women on the Internet, please refer to Fataawa 119025, 87959, 85359, 84874, 84079, 81671, 82217, and 81757.
As for sending Islamic materials (articles, Fatawa, etc.), then there is no objection to that. But beware of returning to the chatting again. Anything that leads to committing what is forbidden is forbidden in itself. If this man wants to marry you, he can propose to you through your Wali (guardian) and marry you. That would be much better as it would cut the way to Satan.
May Allah protect us and you.
Allah knows best.
