Buying plots in city cemetery in USA to bury Muslims

Question:

I live in USA. Is it allowed if our Muslim community buys a section of the city cemetery to bury our Muslim brothers and sisters?

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. There is no objection that Muslims buy a section of a cemetery that is especially established to bury non-Muslims in order to bury their own dead Muslim brothers and sisters. But the Muslims' section of the cemetery should be distinguished from that of non-Muslims to enable them to bury their dead according to Islamic rituals. On the other hand, the Muslims should spare no effort to have their own independent graveyard. Allah knows best.
