Question:
Does the person commit a sin when he helps a housemaid to travel to his country without being accompanied by a Mahram?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
A woman is not allowed to travel alone without being accompanied by her Mahram. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: No lady should travel for a two days journey without being accompanied by her husband or Mahram of hers . [Reported by Imam al-Bukhari ]
Therefore, any woman who travels without being accompanied by her Mahram after having been informed of the prohibition, and anyone who helps her in doing so, are both sinners. Allah says: {...Help you one another in virtue, righteous and piety but do no help one another in sin and transgression.}[5:2].
Allah knows best.
