Wife lacks knowledge of Islam to teach his children

Question:

My wife does not have much knowledge of Sariah and I am busy in my work which is outside. How can I educate my children?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

There is no doubt that raising children according to the teachings of Islam is an obligation upon their parents and they will be held accountable for that in front of Allaah. There are some guidelines that one should take into consideration in raising and educating one’s children:

1. Implanting in their hearts  the love for Allaah and the love of His Prophet as well as of the companions of the Prophet and pious people through stories and draw their attention to the wonderful Creation of Allaah.
2. Both parents should show a good example by following the Islamic Sharee'ah in all conducts.
3. Attentively observing the behaviour of the children; appreciating their good behaviour and clarifiying to them the seriousness of a bad conduct.
4. Encouraging children to perform acts of worship, like the the prayer, the recitation of the Quran, and so on.
5. Choosing a good company for the children and guiding them to only befriend good Muslims.
6.  Seeking help from Allaah and supplicating Him for the children are the backbone of all the above.

As regards the weak background of your wife, it is not a barrier if she uses the advanced means of technology to raise and educate the children such as Islamic websites and cassettes on education.

However, we inform you that you have to allocate some time for your children to teach them and to raise them according to the Sharee'ah even if this is at the expense of some material loss since you may regain your material loss but the children cannot regain what they missed.
