All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
First, we ask Allaah to reward you about being keen on guiding your husband to the straight path and may Allaah help you to achieve this. There is no doubt that the prayer is the most important pillar of Islam, and it is the relation between the slave and his Lord, and it is the spine of religion. Whoever does not perform the prayer is likely not to perform other obligations. First, we advise you to supplicate to Allaah as much as possible and be keen on advising your husband and guiding him with good and soft words without hurting his feelings or being aggressive to him. You have to show him that you are seeking his benefit and you have to choose the best time to do that. Try to seize the incidents that incite the softness of the heart and the acceptance of advice. If you are pretty sure that direct guidance is of no avail, then you can use indirect means, like putting on a tape that includes influential lectures when he is present, or seek the help of some pious people like an Imaam of the mosque and the like. If all these means are of no avail and he does not pray at all, then you have to use the means of leaving him, like asking for divorce even by paying him an amount of money. However, it is more appropriate to take the case to one of the Islamic foundations to study the matter.
Allaah knows best.
