All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The Muslim scholars have different opinions concerning the matter of supplicating in other then Arabic during the prayers. Some allowed it while some do not permit it and yet others distinguish between the one who is able to supplicate in Arabic and the one who is not able. There is no evidence that supports any of the above opinion.
Probably, the correct opinion -Allaah willing- is that if one is capable to supplicate in Arabic perceiving the meaning of the supplication, then it is better.
One should choose the short comprehensive supplications as "Allaahumma innee As'aluka Al-Hudaa wat-Tuqaa wal-'Afaafa wal-Ghinaa. ('O Allaah! I ask You for guidance, piety, purity and prosperity.")
And "Allaahumma innee As'aluka Al-Jannah wa A'oothu bika Minan-Naar. (O Allaah, I ask You to grant me the
There are many other short comprehensive supplications, which cover the interest of this life and the next life as well, memorizing and learning them is easy.
If one can not do, then he may supplicate in his own language. It is better to supplicate by the meaning of the short comprehensive supplications that are reported from the Prophet .
