How Maryam (Mary) conceived

Question:

In which part of Maryam’s body did the angel blow causing her to conceive ‘Eesa (Jesus), may Allaah exalt his mention?
Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

 

Scholars of Tafseer (Quranic exegesis) mentioned that the blowing was through the slit of her garment that opened to her abdomen, thus causing the predestined conception of ‘Eesa may Allaah exalt his mention. Some other scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them mentioned that the blowing was through her mouth.

Regardless of the manner of blowing, one should know that angels are totally different from humans with regard to lust. No one should allow such thoughts to cross his mind. That blow was like the blowing of the soul into any human being. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His [created] soul.} [Quran 32:9]

On the authority of Ibn Mas‘ood may Allaah be pleased with him the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam , stated that the matter of the creation of a human being is put together in the womb of the mother in forty days, and then he becomes a clot of thick blood for a similar period, and then a piece of flesh for a similar period. Then Allaah The Almighty sends an angel who is ordered to write four things: his deeds, his livelihood, the time of his death and whether he will be prosperous or wretched. Then the soul is breathed into him.
