Ruling on paying Zakah on an estate before distributing it
In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Ever Merciful.
A person died, leaving behind children and wealth that consists of farms, homes and cars. Please note that the estate is not yet distributed, so what is the ruling on Zakaah regarding it?

In our country the approved calendar is the Gregorian one. The annual inventory of merchants is made at the end of every Gregorian year. A man accumulated salaries that reached 4,500 Dirhams. The Nisaab of Zakaah last year was 3,800 and he paid Zakaah according to this Nisaab. My wife is a guardian of her minor children from her late husband and theirs is money held by the probate court and cannot be disposed of until they are twenty-one years of age.
