I would like a clearer understanding of when a person of Muslim faith should be buried. Is it on the day of their death or the nearest possible day to their death. Taking all matters into consideration such as certification of death, allowing time to travel, cemetery opening times, washing and praying etc.

As salam Alaekum, About the prayer for the dead Muslim. I have lost my parents for few years and I learnt that the best way to remember them is to say this رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ

We know it is allowed for someone who missed the janaazah prayer to go to the cemetery and offer it, even though the deceased has already been prayed over, like the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did for the lady who used to clean the masjid.

The graveyard where my mother is busried sometimes develops hole due to the mud collapsing. I have sometimes seen dogs coming out of these holes. I am not sure whether they would have gone fully inside and affected her remains. Should I fill the grave up with fresh mud if I see hole. If the dog would have gone deep inside and touched the remains does.. More
