Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

The summary of what the interpreters of the Quran stated regarding this verse is that it is a threat for those who go against Allaah’s Orders, and that their deeds will be exposed to Allaah, to His Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and to the believers. This will undoubtedly happen on the Day of Judgment, and Allaah may even show this to some people in this worldly life. However, they mentioned a non authentic Prophetic narration in regard to the matter of the exposition of people’s deeds in this worldly life.

Nonetheless, a narration has been reported proving that our exaltations are presented to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) in his grave.

However, what is reported in some narrations that all our deeds are presented to him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) are not authentic.

The life in the Barzakh (the life in the grave after death) is a matter of the Unseen, and it is only with authentic and clear evidence that this can be proven. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa receiving the news of his nation while in his grave">86057 and died and is buried in Madeenah">86435.

Therefore, it is very strange to deduct from this verse that collective mention of Allaah is permissible, and we do not know any scholar who said this.

If by collective mention of Allaah, you mean that people gather to mention Allaah in one voice like some people do, then this is an innovation because neither the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) nor his companions may Allaah be pleased with them did so. Had this method of mentioning Allaah been beneficial and good, they would have preceded us to doing it. However, if you just mean to gather in order to read the Quran or mention Allaah each individually, then this is a good act as long as this is not done all the time.

Allaah Knows best.
