Fatwa CenterA female doctor circumcising a male child
Question
Assalamu alaikum dear scholar. It is observed that in many medical centers male children/boys are being circumcised by lady doctors. Sometimes lady nurses are present there. Which seems quite immoral, shameless to me. Please tell me what is the rulings of islam on this matter. May Allah give you the best rewards.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
It is permissible for a female doctor to circumcise a male child or be present at the circumcision if this child did not reach the age of eight years old. If he completed eight years, then this is not permissible because the circumcision includes touching his ‘Awrah and this is forbidden. This is the view of the Maaliki School of jurisprudence in this issue.
