asalamualaikum, Dear brother, my question is: I am a muazin and when i make the the call for prayer. Is it obligatory for me to repeat the azaan sliently?? May Allah bless you all for your effots.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The Mu'aththin (the person who calls the Athaan for the prayer) is neither obliged to repeat the Athaan silently during his Athaan nor after finishing it. However, according to the view of some jurists it is desirable for him to do so.
For instance, some jurists of the Hanbali School of jurisprudence are of the opinion that it is desirable for the Mu'aththin to repeat his Athaan. The same opinion was adopted by the jurists of the Maaliki school of jurisprudence who said that it is desirable for the Mu'aththin to do so –if he so wishes –after finishing the Athaan because he has heard it (the Athaan), and so, he is included in the general Prophetic narration which reads: "When you hear the Mu’aththin, you should repeat exactly what he says…" [Muslim] However, some jurists like Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali said: "The most preponderant opinion is that he does not have to repeat himself."
Nonetheless, according to the view of many scholars it is a Sunnah for the Mu'aththin during his Athaan to repeat the Shahaadatayn (The Two Testimonies of Faith) only [which is saying ‘Ashhadu An-La Ilaaha Illa Allaah" and then, "Ashhadu Anna Muhammadan Rasoolu Allaah"] twice each silently before repeating them loudly, as it is confirmed that Abu Mahthoorah used to do so.
Allaah Knows best.
