Assalamoualaikum I wish to ask concerning the possession of an evil in a male body. If a husband is possessed, is his wife without the permission of the husband go out and seek help? Is it permissible? The second question is if the wife is being possessed and she is misbehaving with her husband. Is she commiting a sin? Can black magic take a person's life? If yes, is the person dying with faith or not? Can a pious person be under the influence of black magic? Assalamoualaikum
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
It is not permissible for a woman to go out of the marital house without the permission of her husband unless there is a necessity or dire need, like if he transgressed her and she fled from his harm and the like. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 91788.
However, if you mean that the husband was unconscious of what was going an around him because of being possessed by jinn, then his wife go out without his permission if she needs to do so, because, in this case, his permission should not be sought and he cannot prevent her from going out.
On the other hand, if a woman is possessed by jinn and she mistreats her husband because of it, she is accountable for it unless she is sick to an extent that she is unconscious and not aware of her acts. In which case, she is not sinful because the ruling of a mad person applies to her and she is not held accountable for her acts as we clarified in Fataawa 92489 and 87760.
In fact, magic is a reality and it affects the bewitched person with the Decree and Predestination of Allaah. It may harm the bewitched person by rendering some of his limbs unfunctional and it may even kill him. Thus, magic exists, but it does not have any effect except with the Will of Allaah. Allaah Says (what means): {And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allaah.} [Quran 2:102]
If the bewitched person is a believer, then if he dies because of magic, this does not negate faith from him.
Nonetheless, it is possible for a believer to be affected by magic and this happened to the best believer, who was the Prophet as he was bewitched by the Jewish Labeed ibn Al-A’sam, but Allaah cured him from it. For more benefit on how to treat magic, please refer to Fataawa 88660 and 6281.
Allaah Knows best.
