What is the sharia ruling on giving shaving tools to men as a present?
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
In principal, it is permissible to give all things that can be used for lawful and unlawful purposes as a present unless one is certain or semi-certain that the one receiving it will use it for what is unlawful. In the later case, it is impermissible to the person do so. That is because the means take the same ruling as the ends; and what leads to what is unlawful is unlawful in itself. On the other hand, that which is absolutely necessary to abandon what is unlawful is obligatory to abandon; and what is absolutely necessary to do an obligation is obligatory in itself. Allah says (what means): {And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.} [Quran 5: 2]
Based on this argument, it is impermissible to present shaving tools to men if one mostly believes that they will use them for what has been made unlawful by Allah, the Exalted, which is shaving their beards.
Allah knows best.
