Fatwa CenterAlternative for wife’s self arousal during sexual intercourse
Question
I am a married woman. However, since my young age I practice masturbation and have become addicted to it. After marriage, I could not help stopping this habit because I cannot reach climax during sexual intercourse. So, I stroke the upper parts of the vagina with my fingers while the penis of my husband is inside it. In other words, I practice masturbation until I reach climax. Is it permissible to do so? Please advise. I have been confused for years and do not know anyone to ask. It is worth mentioning that I am adherent to religious teachings.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Masturbation is unlawful. Perhaps, your complaint is one of the effects of sin that you practiced since your young age. Committing another sin is a punishment for committing a previous sin.
Now, you have to return to Allaah The Almighty in repentance, shun this bad habit and supplicate Allaah The Almighty to keep evil away from you and grant you chastity.
It should be known that it is permissible for a man to enjoy his wife as he likes as long as he does not have anal intercourse or sexual intercourse during menstruation. So, if he does this act for you in order to arouse your sexual desire, then it is permissible, even advisable. You should beware of the devil’s beautification of your bad deed and making you believe that pleasure cannot be achieved without this unlawful way.
