Is it permissible for a husband to say, "O my beloved," or similar romantic words to his wife during Hajj? If it is impermissible, then what must he do?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It is permissible for you to say such words and you are not liable for anything. They do not belong to rafath (sexual activity), which is forbidden during the state of Ihram (ritual state of consecration). However, it is better for one in the state of Ihram to avoid such romantic words, which could lead him to rafath, which is forbidden.
An-Nawawi said, "A person in a state of Ihram should avoid insults, obscene words, quarrels, disputes, arguments, talking to women about sexual matters, and kissing, as well as similar forms of enjoyment. He should also avoid mentioning it before women."
Allaah Knows best.
