Assalaamalaikum There is a hadeeth which says that the believers will enter jannah with no hair on the body, Does this refer only to beard or the whole body?? Since we also know that people of jannah will have combs made of gold. A student of knowledge said that the hadeeth of people of jannah having no hair is weak and said that the mutaqadimeen never authenticated this hadeeth. Rather the later scholars authenticated it.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Mu’aath ibn Jabal related that the Prophet said: “The people of Paradise will enter Paradise Jurd (hairless), Murd (beardless) and with kohl on their eyes, aged thirty or thirty-three years.” This Hadeeth was reported by At-Tirmithi, who said: “This Hadeeth is Hasan Ghareeb (i.e. a good Hadeeth that is strange to come from this chain of narration) and some companions of Qataadah reported it from him (as a Mursal Hadeeth, i.e. a Hadeeth narrated by a Tabi’ie [successor of the Prophet’s companions]) but they did not mention any chain of transmission.”
What is meant by this Hadeeth was clarified by several scholars, including Al-Mubaarak Poori who said: “His words ‘The people of Paradise will enter Paradise Jurd’: Jurd is the plural of Ajrad which means having no hair on his body, and Murd is the plural of Amrad which means the boy who has no hair on his chin and it is likely that this is meant to indicate beauty.”
Therefore, this Hadeeth proves that the people of Paradise do not have any hair on their body or on their chin, i.e. they do not have a beard, but this does not mean that they do not have any hair on their heads. To this end, Ibn Al-Qayyim said in his poem An-Nooniyyah:
Their colors are fair and they do not have beards … with curly hair and Kuhl on their eyelids
This is the complete beauty in their complexion … and their hair as well as their eyes.
As regards this Hadeeth being Dha’eef (weak), because no early scholars assessed that it was Saheeh (sound), then this is not correct. At-Tirmithi, who was an early scholar, assessed that it was Hasan, so it is not Dha’eef according to him, and we have already cited his statement: “This Hadeeth is Hasan Ghareeb”, meaning that it is Hasan (good).
It is for this reason that Shaykh Al-Albaani said in Silsilatul-Ahaadeeth As-Saheehah: “The Prophet’s statement: “The people of Paradise will enter Paradise hairless, beardless and with kohl on their eyes, aged thirty or thirty-three years” is classified by At-Tirmithi as Hasan, and it is Saheeh by virtue of its multiple routes of transmission and the other Ahaadeeth with the same meaning, and I clarified this in At-Ta'leeq Ar-Ragheeb (4/245), some of which are mentioned under number (2512).”
Allaah Knows best.
