Question
Assalam o Alykum, is there any need to take permission of a person for recitation of surah Baqarah ? for sorcery prevention. JazakAllahu khairan
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It is not an obligation to get permission from a person who is affected by sorcery to treat him with Ruqyah; rather, it is permissible to perform Ruqyah on someone without his knowledge. Indeed, the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, used to visit the sick and perform Ruqyah on them without asking their permission. Ibn Abbaas narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “The one who visits a sick person who is not on the point of death and supplicates seven times saying: As'alu Allaah Al-'Atheem Rabbal 'Arsh Al-'Atheem an yashfiyak (I beseech Allaah The Great, The Lord of the Great Throne, to heal you), Allaah will cure him from that sickness.” [Abu Daawood and An-Nasaa’i]
This is common in treating people affected by sorcery; as they are mostly not aware that Ruqyah is being done to them; however, Ruqyah is recited over them and Allaah cures them.
