Question
Salam. Please answer this question as soon as possible Jazak Allah Khyran. Is it permissible to marry the mother of a girl I was seeing. I was not married to the girl and I never had sex with her nor did I have sexual intercourse. I dated the girl for 3 months and was separate with her in a room for 4 times only and in those 4 times i kissed her and played with her breasts ( i am sorry to say this ).. after we broke up in many months her mother wanted to learn about islam and I taught her. She eventually converted to islam. Now i live far away from all this and the mother does too.. And i am in love with the mother and want to marry her.. Is it halal for me to marry the mother ? I understand the bellow: The mother-in-law: Marriage to the wife's mother is permanently prohibited from the time a man enters into a marriage contract with a woman, whether he and his wife have engaged in sexual intercourse or not. The act of marriage itself gives the mother-in-law the same status as the mother. However i was not married to the daughter nor did i have intercourse with her nor were we boyfriend girlfriend. we saw each other and kissed few times and made out i know its bad and i was a kid back then. I am sorry for the badness in my question and the haram and batil,. Please forgive me and answer my question i want to marry this ramathan and make my life halal please help me and don't ignore my questions i beg you please. Jazak Allah Khayran
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
We implore Allaah to reward you generously for being a cause in the mother’s conversion to Islam. You did well by ending your relationship with this girl and her mother; however, you should sincerely turn to Allaah and repent of the prohibited acts that you committed with this girl and keenly avoid doing them again in the future. Please refer to Fatwa 86527 about the conditions of repentance.
It should be highlighted that it is permissible for you to marry this girl’s mother because engaging in sexual acts with a woman – other than one’s wife – without committing sexual intercourse with her does not render it forbidden to marry her female relatives, according to the majority of jurists.
