Question
In what way shall i name my child. Seeing my name is Mohammed Safiuddin Khan and my fathers name is Mohammed Imaduddin Khan. Should i name him as Eg: Mohammed Salahuddin Khan or Mohammed Salahuddin Safiuddin Khan but that would make it long. Is there any other way that I can name him.I know 'Mohammed' name was not as this during the time of Salafs but since it is permissible, i would like to keep it for blessing.'Khan' was the title given to my grand father and since me and my father have it in our name, i would like to carry it on.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
This matter is very simple. Compound names are permissible, however, it is better not to name with compound names as this involves some disadvantages which we have mentioned in Fatwa 279862. Therefore, you may name your child "Muhammed" as a single name, or "Ahmad", which is also one of the names of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
Jubayr ibn Mut‘im 
narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “I have five names: I am Muhammad and Ahmad; I am Al-Maahi through whom Allaah will eliminate disbelief; I am Al-Haashir who will be the first to be resurrected of all the people; and I am Al-‘Aaqib (i.e. there will be no Prophet after me).” [Al-Bukhari]
You may also name your child with other good names, such as the names of the Prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention. Ibn ‘Umar narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “The most beloved names to Allaah are ‘Abdullaah and ‘Abdur-Rahmaan.” [Ahmad, Abu Dawood, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Maajah]
Finally, we should point out that the scholars disliked naming with compound names added to "Deen" or "Islam", such as Ezzuddeen, Nooruddeen, Dhiyaa’ul-Islam, etc., but they are not forbidden as underlined in Fatwa 92693.
