Question
Is attraction to a race forbidden or permissible in Islam?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
The question is not clear. If what is meant is the person's natural instinctive inclination towards his race or tribe or the like, then there is no harm in this in and of itself. However, it is forbidden if it leads to a Shariah violation such as arrogance, feeling superior to others, oppressing them, and the like of sinful attitudes that belong to pre-Islamic prejudice.
