I was wondering; does the poem An-Nooniyyah by Ibn Al-Qayyim contain descriptions from weak hadiths?
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
If you are asking whether Ibn Al-Qayyim relied on weak ahaadeeth in any of the information mentioned in his famous poem An-Nooniyyah, then you should know that it might be difficult to go through the whole poem and verify this because of its length.
However, a great scholar like Ibn Al-Qayyim is expected to show keenness on relying only on authentic information established in the Quran, the authentic Sunnah, and the statements of our righteous predecessors.
Going through some of the commentaries on the poem, we found that he used a simile in the poem that was borrowed from the Sunnah, resembling the Quran to a pale man. He was referring to the hadeeth reported on the authority of Buraydah, may Allah be pleased with him, which states that the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said, "The Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection like a pale man, and it will say, 'I am the one that kept you awake at night and made you thirsty during the day.'" [Ibn Maajah] This is a weak hadeeth that was classified as Hasan (good) by some scholars when considering all of its versions with different chains of narration reinforcing one another.
