Will there be kings in Paradise? Who are they?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
All the people of Paradise will be kings. There will be neither poor nor wretched people in Paradise. The following Hadeeth mentions the person with the least status from among them. Al-Mugheerah ibn Shu‘bah narrated that the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “(As for) the person who would be admitted into Paradise last of all among those deserving of Paradise who are admitted to it; it would be said to him, ‘Enter Paradise.’ He would say, ‘O Lord, how (should I enter) while the people have settled in their apartments and taken their portions?’ It would be said to him, ‘Would you be pleased if there be for you like the kingdom of one of the world’s kings?’ He would say, ‘I would be pleased. O my Lord.’ He (Allaah) would say, ‘For you is that, and its like, and its like.’ He would say at the fifth (point), ‘I am well-pleased. My Lord.’ He (Allaah) would say, ‘It is for you and ten times the like of it, and for you is what your self desires and your eye enjoys.’ He would say, ‘I am well-pleased. My Lord’….” [Muslim]
Allaah The Almighty alone knows the position of the person who will be the highest in rank from among the people of Paradise. In a Hadeeth Qudsi (Sacred Hadeeth), the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, related that Allaah The Almighty Said: “I have prepared for My righteous slaves that which no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard of and no heart has ever conceived.” The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, added: “Read if you wish the verse in which Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.} [Quran 32: 17]” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion.} [Quran 76:20] Commenting on this verse, Al-Qurtubi said, “The great dominion is that the position of the person who would be the least in rank in Paradise is that he will look at his kingdom, the area of which will equal two thousand years of distance, while seeing the farthest of it just as clearly as he sees the nearest of it.”
There are many Quranic verses and prophetic Hadeeths concerning the bliss of the people of Paradise and their kingdom. You may read a part of Soorat Al-Insaan starting from the tenth verse. You can also refer to the Tafseer (exegesis) of this chapter as well as the relevant reported citations.
Allaah Knows best.
