Question
Assalaamu alaykum Scholars. I work with my uncle, and he is a trader. My job is to scan receipts and to print them as well as other papers and this type of things. In some papers, I saw that is was written 'article 29 article x' or whatever number, and those articles are refering to a trading law. Are these types of laws permissible in Islam? Can I deal with those papers? What if I do not know what is in these laws and perhaps they may contain something haram? Do these laws have something to do with ruling by other than what Allah has revealed?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
We cannot pass judgment on these commercial laws and declare them permissible or prohibited because we have not read their texts and the articles and conditions which they include. It seems to us that you suffer from Waswasah (obsessive whisperings) about disbelief, as your previous questions indicate. Therefore, we advise you to fear Allah and refrain from getting carried away with such Waswasah. You should know that the basic principle is that all transactions are lawful unless proven otherwise, so do not make things difficult for yourself, and do not waste your time and ours with such questions.
