Question
Is swine flesh impure? Is Ghusl due when one touches swine flesh?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Swine flesh is impure. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Say, "I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine - for indeed, it is impure …"} [Quran 6: 145]
Nevertheless, when one touches swine flesh with his hand he is required to wash only his hand in order to remove the impurity. He is not required to wash his whole body.
