I was told that if a muslim plays a video game or card game which involves pretending to use magic, then it is shirk just like in real life with real magic. Is this true? And what should be done with children who like such games? Apologies if I've sent this question before i have a bad memory.
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Playing games that simulate magicians, witchcraft, and sorcery is forbidden, but on its own, it is neither polytheism nor disbelief.
Children should be prevented from these games; the father can find many alternative suitable games for his children that are devoid of simulating magic and the like.
