Revealed a part of her body for her suitor and then repented

Question

I was engaged to a young man, but later our engagement was broken. When we were engaged to each other, I revealed a part of my body to him, after he had sworn by the Quran that he would marry me. Nevertheless, some problems occurred and our engagement was broken. Allaah Knows best that he did not touch me. I do not know how I allowed him to do so. Now, I repented to Allaah and resumed performing prayers. Knowing that I unwillingly did so, will Allaah Accept my repentance?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

A fiancé is still a non-Mahram to the woman whom he intends to marry. Consequently, she is not allowed to reveal any part of her body to him, except for the parts that he is permitted to look at only when he wants to propose to her, according to Sharee‘ah rules. Since you turned to Allaah in repentance, you should know that Allaah Accepts repentance from those who sincerely repent. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allaah. Indeed, Allaah Forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He Who Is The Forgiving, The Merciful."} [Quran 39: 53]

Allaah Loves those who frequently turn to Him in repentance. He Says (what means): {Allaah Loves those who are constantly repentant and Loves those who purify themselves.} [Quran 2: 222]

So, you have to praise and thank Allaah Who Guided you to repentance and ask Him to keep you steadfast on this until you die. We ask Allaah to Compensate you with a better husband.

Allaah Knows best.
