Assalamo Alikom,In my halaqa, after I mentioned Al-Firdaws, an elementary schooler asked me the following question "What level in Jannah will children who die before reaching puberty attain? Because they do not have that many good deeds yet."I am not sure how to respond to her, and would appreciate guidance on the matter. Jazakomullahu khairan.
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The Muslims’ children who die before becoming competent for religious assignments (i.e. before reaching puberty) will enter Paradise, and the Ijmaa‘ (scholarly consensus) has been reported to this effect.
As for their rank in Paradise, the Quran indicates that Allah, The Exalted, will raise them to the ranks of their parents and bring them together in honor of their parents; He Says (what means): {And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith – We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds.} [Quran 52:21] An-Nawawi said in Sharh Muslim: "These Ahaadeeth (pl. of Hadeeth) serve as evidence that the children of the Muslims will enter Paradise, and a group of scholars reported the Ijmaa‘ in this regard. Al-Maaziri said, ‘As for the children of the Prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention, the Ijmaa‘ is established that they will enter Paradise. As for the believers’ children, the large majority of scholars held that they will definitely enter Paradise, and a group of scholars reported the Ijmaa‘ that they will definitely be among the inhabitants of Paradise because of the Saying of Allah, The Almighty (which means): {And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith – We will join with them their descendants...} [Quran 52:21]’” [End of quote]
Ibn Hajar said: “The verse explicitly states that the children will be admitted to Paradise with their parents.” [End of quote]
Allah Knows best.
