Question
Could you please give me the reference and meaning of the Hadith: ما تركت شيئا يقربكم إلى الله إلا وأمرتكم به?Is the Hadith Sahih?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
This Hadeeth was narrated by Al-Haakim in his Mustadrak on the authority of Ibn Mas’ood 
.
Its wording reads as follows: “I have not left anything which brings you closer to Paradise except that I have commanded you with it. And I have not left anything which brings you closer to the Fire except that I have prohibited you from it.” [Al-Albani said: It is Saheeh in corroboration with others Ahadeeth]
The meaning of the Hadeeth is clear, as it indicates that the Prophet had conveyed the clear message and explained to his nation all the rulings of the religion and guided them to what brings their happiness in that which brings them closer to Allah, the Almighty, and warned them about what leads to their destruction of what incurs the wrath of Allah, Almighty. May Allah reward him on our behalf with the best reward.
