Does giving a Fatiha on Thursday with the name of the family members who passed away is haram? Is going to molvi and telling them to help a girl for her marriage so that she gets good proposals and if molvi gives her something to read from the Quran and gives to wear tawiz until her marriage day. Doing such things is haram? Please let me know. Jazak'allah
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
We have already highlighted in Fatwa 84122 the ruling on gifting the reward of the Quran to the dead.
However, it is not from the Sunnah to single out the recitation of al-Faatihah to the dead, or to single out the day of Thursday for reciting it without other days of the week. So both matters are not part of the Sunnah. 'Aa'ishah narrated that the Prophet said: “Whoever innovates in this matter (Islam) of ours anything which is not part of it, will have it rejected.” [Bukhari and Muslim]
Another wording of the Hadeeth reads: “Whoever performs an act which is not in accordance with ours [our religion], it will be rejected from him.” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
There is nothing wrong with asking one of the trustworthy Sheikhs to help in looking for a righteous husband for the Muslim woman. If he gives her something from the Quran to recite it, then there is nothing wrong with this. But it should be known that the Sharee'ah did not specify some specific verses that are to be recited for marriage. Also, it is not permissible to wear an amulet, if it includes other than the Quran, but if it only includes the Quran, then the Salaf (righteous predecessors) differed in opinion about the permissibility of wearing it. The view we adopt here in Islamweb is that it is not permissible to wear it.
Allah knows best.
