Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

You should know that one of the most important matters that make you have certainty is adherence to Al-Muhkamaat (i.e., clear verses) and citing the clear-cut evidence in your heart when dealing with any misconceptions you face. Understanding points of ambiguous meaning in light of verses of clear, precise meaning is the best way to refute all misconceptions, not to mention that it is the means of the well-versed scholars – a fact recorded in the Saying of Allah, the Exalted (which means), {It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah. But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding.} [Quran 3:7] So, beware of falling prey to Satan’s evil whispers, since they make the heart a store of contradictories, and thus would not adhere to one belief all the time, be it true or false – a point at which the heart would resemble a piece of cotton that absorbs all that touches it, be it pure or impure, good or bad.

We believe that you fully know that it is conclusively proved that Allah, the Exalted, has sealed Prophethood with Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and thus there is no Prophet or Messenger after him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). This fact is recorded in the Glorious Quran, {Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing.} [Quran 33:40] Imam Muslim also recorded on the authority of Saʿd ibn Abi Waqqaas may Allaah be pleased with him that the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said to ʿAli ibn Abi Taalib may Allaah be pleased with himYou are to me in the position that Harun was to Musa, except that there is no Prophet after me.” As such, this is an obvious fact and a decisive matter, so how does the Muslim doubt his religion by the emergence of any liar claiming he is a prophet.

We have previously referred you to some fatwas in which we elaborated on important facts including the supernatural acts that would be carried out by the Anti-Christ who will order the sky to pour down water, and it will do, the earth to grow its plants and it will do and the land to get out its treasures, and it will do; however, he is nothing but a big liar of great danger, which is why all Prophets warned their people against him.

As far as the supernatural acts are concerned, they are not exclusively restricted to Prophets; rather, what can be a miracle to a Prophet could be a Karaamah (i.e., a supernatural act carried out by an Ally of Allah), or a means to lead someone gradually to destruction when done with the help of the Satan. On that, Allah, the Exalted, said, {And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term, which you appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing.} [Quran, 6:128]

In his Majmooʿ Al-Fataawa, Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah may Allaah have mercy upon him commented, “These supernatural acts may be carried out by an Ally of Allah and, similarly, could be carried out by an enemy of Allah. That is because these supernatural acts might be carried out by many disbelievers, polytheists, People of the Scriptures, hypocrites, and heretics with the help of devils. So, we should not think that all those to whom these supernatural acts occur are the Allies of Allah. In actuality, the Allies of Allah should be judged by their attributes, acts, and conditions indicated by the Quran and the Sunnah. Besides, they are known by the light of faith and Quran, the hidden facts of belief and the apparent rules of Islam.

In conclusion, we recommend you to be steadfast in your belief and to do considerable efforts in acquiring knowledge since it is by the knowledge that you would get certainty. Besides, if any fitnah (i.e., the act of temptation) jumps over to your heart, seek the refugee with Allah from the cursed Satan, since its evil whispers know no end. As such, if you obey it, you will be destructed; we hope you would not need to write to us or any other body concerning that topic anymore and to direct your efforts to what benefits you in your religion and the life of this world.

May Allah protect you, keep your religion for you and make us all steadfast on the Right Path until the end of our life.

Allah knows best.
