Assalamu alaikum . in the first tashahud the imam is taking so long .so i finished attahiyat and he still hasn’t stood up,so i send salutations opon the prophet and he still hasn’t stood up.should i stay silent or continue to make general dua till he stands up,or repeat the salutations again?what should i do.
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
  is His slave and Messenger.
If the Imam prolongs the sitting for the first Tashahhud, some scholars hold that you should not send salutations upon the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, but rather repeat the Tashahhud, since this is not the position for invoking blessings upon the Prophet. This is the view of the Hanbalis. Others say that if the sitting becomes so lengthy, there is no harm in reading the Salat Ibrahimiyyah (the most complete form of sending prayers and blessings upon the Prophet which is recited it the final sitting of the prayer), or even supplicating. This was the opinion favored by Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymeen .
.
In any case, none of this is obligatory, because the requirement is only to recite the Tashahhud once. So if you remain silent and do not say anything beyond the Tashahhud, your prayer is undoubtedly valid.
Allah knows best.
