Question
How many names does the َQur'an have?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The Quran is the book of Allaah which was revealed to the Prophet 
and which was compiled in a written form (text) which is called Mus-haf, and it is memorized by heart (by millions of Muslims). It was narrated from the Prophet by Tawaatur, which means by a group of narrators from a group of narrators, generation after generation and so forth, and they are all trustworthy people and it is absolutely impossible for them to agree on a lie. The Quran refers both to the written text and to its meaning.
Allaah named the Quran with many names, among which are:
Al-Qur'aan (The Quran), Al-Kitaab (The Book), Al-Furqaan (The Criterion), Ath-Thikr (The Reminder), and At-Tanzeel (The Revelation). However, the most well-known names are Al-Qur'aan and Al-Kitaab.
Allaah also described the Quran with many attributes (and adjectives) among which are: Noor (Light), Hudaa (Guidance), Shifaa' (Cure), Rahmah (Mercy), Maw'idhah (Admonition), Mubaarak (Blessed), Mubeen (Clear), Bushrah (Glad Tiding), 'Azeez (Honourable and Respected), Majeed (Glorious), Basheer (giving glad tidings) and Nadheer (Warner). Each name/attribute indicates one of the meanings of the Quran.
