Question

Question: I am a good educated girl. al hamdulilaah. but I heard that some of the bad people I know some bad people of low educational status who are doing what we call siher, amal, shawatha, going to a witch or someone to do me harm by that sihir. I know it is Haram to go to witches to deactivate this Siher. What can I do? Do I go to a Shaikh to read Qur'an on me or what ? Please inform me about this. Thank you so much for this great site.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Magic is made up of blowing on knots, incantations and secret plotting – in written or spoken forms –which produce an effect on the bewitched person’s mind, heart or even body, without direct contact with the person.

Magic really affects other people, some magic may even kill the person, make him sick and so forth, but this does not happen except with the Will of Allah. Allah Says (what means): {But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah.} [Quran 2:102]

There is no doubt that magic is forbidden and it is one of the seven grave sins. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Avoid the seven grave things. The companions asked: What are they, Messenger of Allah? He (the Prophet) replied: “Associating anything with Allah, magic, killing a soul which Allah has forbidden without right, consuming the property of an orphan, consuming usury, running away in a battlefield with non-Muslims and slandering chaste innocent believing women.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Moreover, Allah Says (what means): {Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak. From the evil of that which He created. And from the evil of darkness when it settles. And from the evil of the blowers in knots.} [Quran 113:1-4]; meaning the witches who blow in knots when making magic. If magic was not real, Allah would not have ordered us to seek refuge in Him from it.
Indeed, it is confirmed that ‘Aa’ishah may Allaah be pleased with her narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was bewitched to a point that he began to fancy that he was doing a thing which he was not actually doing. One day he invoked Allah for a long period and then said: “I feel that Allah has inspired me as how to cure myself. Two persons came to me (in my dream) and sat, one by my head and the other by my feet. One of them asked the other: “What is the ailment of this man?” The other replied: “He has been bewitched.” The first asked: “Who has bewitched him?” The other replied: “Lubaid Ibn Al-A'sam.” The first one asked: “What material has he used?” The other replied: “A comb, the hair gathered on it, and the outer skin of the pollen of the male date-palm.” The first asked: “Where is that?” The other replied: “It is in the well of Dhi-Arwan.
So, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) saw in a dream that he was bewitched, and this proves that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was a human being. Indeed, a person may be bewitched and know that he was bewitched if his situation changes and he does not know the reason and there is no direct reason for it. The cure for magic is by taking out the very thing by which one was bewitched [magic], or by reciting the Quran on the person who was bewitched. So, some verses from the Quran should be recited in a container of water, and then the person drinks this water and has Ghusl (ritual bath) with it.
The verses that should be recited to cure magic are the following:
1- Reciting Chapter Al-Faatihah [Quran 1]
2- Reciting verse 255 from Chapter Al-Baqarah (the Cow), [Quran 2]
3- Reciting verses 285 and 286 from Chapter Al-Baqarah.
4- Reciting Chapter 113 and 114.
5- Reciting verses 118 to 122 from Chapter Al-A’raaf [Quran 7]
6- Reciting verses 80 to 82 from Chapter Younes [Quran 10]
7- Reciting verse 69 from Chapter Taaha [Quran 20]
So, one should recite the above verses in a container of water and do as clarified above. In addition to this, a person has to perform good deeds regularly, avoid committing sins and forbidden matters, remember Allah as much as possible, and he should persist in reciting the morning and evening mention of Allah.
Allah knows best.
