My question is regarding a small incident that took place in the second day of an "Istikhara" that I did recently. I performed the "Istikhara" because I couldn't make up my mind about continuing my friendship with one of my friends. I didn't see any dream in the first night of Istikhara nor anything happened in the day. The second day, when I woke up and went to the wash room to wash my face, I noticed in the mirror that my gold earning, that I wear all the time was missing from the right ear. I had it on all the time and also before I went to sleep last night. This had never happened before so I got worried. But soon after, I found it lying right in the center of my bed. I was a bit surprised to see it on the bed since I tried to find it everywhere and had not seen it there. The third day, I did the "Istikhara" again but couldn't see anything in my dream. My question is: was that incident the result of my "Istikhara" and if it was what did it indicate? Is it a definite "Yes" or "No"? Should I continue my friendship with that friend of mine or not? Please guide me in this regard.
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The result of Istikhaarah is known by being inclined to do something and feeling good about it regardless of whether it matches what we desire or not.
So, if someone feels happy to do something and does not encounter obstacles in doing it, this is evidence that the good is in envisaging this thing and performing it.
Indeed, the dream is not a condition in the result of Istikhaarah and there is no proof that the person who does Istikhaarah sees a dream directing him to the result.
Know again that the Istikhaarah should not be in something forbidden, dislikable or obligatory. It is done only about lawful things. So, if your friend is dissolute or if you fear any harm from continuing your relation with her, then give up her friendship. If on the other hand, she is good and does not try to lead you to committing sins, then remain friendly towards her as the person will be resurrected with the person he likes the most.
