I am a doctor work in UK. I bought a house in UK using the mortgage, i.e. interest. I have lived in it for three years. Now I am leaving UK. I have not paid the full price. Can I rent the house and use the rent to pay the price knowing that I will be paying interest? Also there is possibility that I might come back to UK.
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Dear brother,
First of all we bring to your knowledge that living in a non-Muslim country is forbidden. For more details, please refer to Fatwa: 81464 and 81642.
Likewise, dealing with usury based banks is also forbidden in Shariah. Please read the Fatwa: 81594 and 82102.
As for the house you have purchased through interest, you may rent it out and continue to pay the installments. Since the matter is accomplished previously.
But you have to make sincere repentance for your involvement in taking interest, making a firm decision not to commit this sin again.
However, since you have known that staying in such a country is not permissible, then it is best that you sell the house to get rid of the installments as soon as possible.
Allah knows best.
