Does Islam allow a person to swear on Holy Qur'an to prove his innocence?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. There is no objection that the person who is not lying swears by the Qur'an, putting his hand on the Qur'an while in a state of purity. He also should swear by Allah to confirm his first oath. But if he is lying, then he commits a major sin and this kind of false swearing is called Ghamus and it indulges the one who takes it in Hell-fire. Allah knows best.
